sketches/ concept
Taking inspiration from Japanese culture, I wanted this library in downtown Oklahoma City to have a mixture of outdoor and indoor spaces that felt intimate and cozy.
The form of the circulation corridor reflects this idea. It’s meandering nature around the entrance and courtyards give visitors a chance to pause and enjoy the outside.

Structure
Columns and load bearing walls support the weight of the building while providing unity and repetition to the interior and exterior spaces.
Circulation
The main circulation path winds its way through the spaces, creating both visual and spatial hierarchy.
Program
Programmatic spaces abut the circulation corridor and provide contrast to the regular and repetitive forms in the structure.
